There seemed to be nothing else open so we tried the hotel restaurant,
intending to enjoy a leisurely relaxed lunch with good food. It was
not to be.
This is absolutely
the WORST meal we have ever had anywhere. Absolutely
appalling food, unfriendly and unhelpful service.
The
food was inedible.
There are several set menu options at different prices.
If you are unable to read French you will receive no assistance, unlike
a lot of places which cater for overseas visitors as well as locals,
there were no English or even German translations on the menu, although
this was a hotel which presumably catered for overseas customers.
The first course was a soup served with stale bread.
The second courses were fairly disgusting, raw marinated gristle in
a glutinous goo, served on some unwashed lettuce leaves.
Thinking that things couldn't get worse we looked forward to the main
course - BIG MISTAKE!!! Coq au vin arrived with a portion of grease
laden potatoes. It was so old and tough that I needed a hacksaw to cut
into it. The duck was the same. We did not eat this course either, in
spite of being hungry
We were going to give up and forgo the sweet but I caught a glimpse
of one being served at another table and it looked OK. It was safe!!!
Not made in the hotel kitchen but a ready made ice cream. The first
and only edible item on the entire menu.
The
message here was that although it is a hotel which supposedly caters
for tourists, they are in fact not welcome in the restaurant and are
served the leftovers from previous days.
